Consultation and Design Policies
Parties and Location: The name of the individual as listed on the booking page is a “Client” of Texas Raised Gardens and an employee of Texas Raised Gardens is the “Consultant.” The location of the Consultation will always be at the site where the future garden is to be built. Consultations booked in cities other than the 9 listed at the bottom of each page on this website will be conducted virtually, with no exceptions. After this virtual consultation, if the Client wishes to proceed with a build, the Consultant will charge a Travel Fee to visit the future garden’s location. Travel fee will be $2/mile from the Consultant’s home in southwest Austin. Travel requiring airfare is available on a case by case basis. Clients outside of driving range should email hilary@texasraisedgardens.com to discuss these particulars.
Duration and Limitations: The Garden Design Consultation booked on this website includes up to 1.5 hours of consultation time and 1 basic hand drawn birds eye view Kitchen Garden Design for 1 area of the property. Special features such as fruit trees, seating, water or fire features, retaining walls, fencing, and/or additional landscape or hardscape elements constitutes a “Complex Design.” Complex Designs, large gardens (>150sf), multiple areas or projects requiring more than 1.5 hours of time on site to measure and estimate may incur an additional Design Fee depending on the project. Client’s should notify us in the intake form of any extra large or complex elements and expect that we may need to schedule an additional visit or another time. This additional fee will be made clear to Clients before we proceed with the Design. The Garden Design Consultation fee paid through this webpage at booking covers garden addresses in Austin, Bee Cave, Lakeway, Westlake, Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Driftwood, Kyle and Buda. A $2/mile travel fee is required to gardens in Round Rock, Cedar Park, Georgetown, Leander and Lake Travis and will be billed separately after booking.
Rescheduling, cancelling and no-shows: Consultant conducts consultations outdoors in a wide variety of weather. Heavy rains or extreme temperatures (above 95 or below 45 degrees) are subject to be rescheduled by the Consultant to the next available date. When a Client books a Garden Design Consultation, Client is agreeing to be available at the garden location at the appointment time. Consultations begin and end promptly. If the consultation cannot begin at the scheduled time for a reason outside of Consultant’s control, TRG does not guarantee that the Consultation end time will be extended. If Client is not available at the scheduled time with no notification, this is considered a “no-show” and Consultant will reschedule the booking and an additional $100 no-show fee will apply. Booking on this website will generate an email to the email address provided by the Client with a button to “Add To Calendar” and a button to “Change/Cancel” the appointment. In the case where Client needs to reschedule or cancel, Client can do so from this button or by emailing hilary@texasraisedgardens.com. If it’s fewer than 24 hours from the appointment time, Client will not be able to reschedule from this email and will need to contact TRG via email at hilary@texasraisedgardens.com. Appointments rescheduled by the client fewer than 24 hours from Consultation time for any reason other than bad weather are subject to a $50 reschedule fee. Refunds will not be given for appointments cancelled by the Client fewer than 7 days prior to the appointment. A 50% refund will be giving for appointments cancelled by the Client more than 7 days prior to the appointment day.
After the consultation: After the Home Design Consultation, the Client receives an email with a Basic Bird’s Eye View Design, a summary of all design elements and a ballpark estimate. When a Client is ready to move forward with the design and prepare for installation, a Design Proposal Fee is required to engage the Detailed Design Process, which is non-refundable and covers the time, resources and other design fees we pay for other designs from sub contracted craftsman and artists to create the custom pieces of the project.
Our Design Fee starts at $750 or 10% of the estimated installation price with a discount applied for the original Home Design Consultation. With our average project being around $20,000, clients should expect a typical design fee of $1500-2500 in most cases. This Design Fee includes a 3D rendering, a detailed installation plan and precise estimate for the project. It also includes one minor change to the design. Additional changes or multiple changes will require additional design fees. The Client and Consultation will meet via zoom to discuss the Design Proposal. Project estimate is guarantied for fourteen (14) days and subject to change after fourteen (14) days. If installation projects based on this Design Proposal cannot be scheduled within 3 months of the Home Design Consultation due to factors outside of the Consultant’s control but within Client control, another Home Design Consultation will need to be booked by the Client at the full price.
